Deep learning for cell shape analysis

Deep learning is one of the implementations of artificial intelligence (AI) and has been developed for various computations, including image analysis. Image-based studies of cells in biology have mostly relied on visual inspection by expert cell biologists. However, deep learning is applied to classify the cellular images into different categories, including the types of cells, and also to retrieve the relationships between protein localization. An illustration of deep learning and its applications in cell biology is introduced in this chapter.
