Aza-Wittig reaction of (β-diazo-α,α-difluoroethyl)phosphonates with aldehydes for the synthesis of difluoromethylphosphonate-containing arylidene hydrazones

•An aza-Wittig reaction between (β-diazo-α,α-difluoroethyl)phosphonates and aldehydes was reported.•The reaction was conducted under mild conditions and tolerated wide substrate scope, also was suitable for scale-up application.•This reaction provides an efficient access to difluoromethylphosphonate-containing hydrazones.
