Experimental study on the implementation method of short pulse laser in distance-selective imaging system

•Bipolar transistor based can generate narrow pulses in the sub-nanosecond range.•SRD-based combined with short routing can generate sub-nanosecond narrow pulses with adjustable pulse widths.•Transmission line length, minority carrier lifetime, reverse recovery time, transistor electron crossing time, and time constant of the differential cell affect the generated pulse width.•The generated electrical pulse with external current drive LD can obtain a very narrow light pulse.
