Invited Paper: Heterogeneous Acceleration for Design Rule Checking

The advances of heterogeneous CPU-GPU computing platforms have marked their great potential for algorithm acceleration. Yet, how to orchestrate such hybrid devices remains a concern for programmers and researchers. To obtain a desired performance gain, different strategies, such as parallel computing, heterogeneous scheduling, and data movement minimization, should be carefully considered and effectively combined. In this talk, we first review efforts for efficient design rule checking in the literature. Then, we introduce the parallel sweepline paradigm for design rule checking, and demonstrate how to accelerate design rule checking with such paradigm on heterogeneous CPU-GPU platforms.
