High Performance Isopropanol Sensor Employing Hierarchical WO3 Microflowers

In this paper, hierarchical WO 3 micro flowers-based chemiresistive gas sensor was developed for high performance sensing of isopropanol. A low-cost co-precipitation approach at low temperatures was used to prepare the sensing material. The synthesized material was characterized structurally and morphologically. A micropipette arrangement was used to transport sensing material across the surface of gold-based interdigitated electrodes to fabricate the sensor device. The investigation on gas sensing reveals that the proposed sensor is very sensitive as well as more selective towards isopropanol. The response of 109 was obtained for 200 ppm isopropanol. The response and recovery periods fell within a reasonable range as well. The theoretical limit of detection of the sensor is 35 ppb. The sensor may be used for monitoring isopropanol at indoor air.
