Simulation of Sea Clutter Based on Space-Time-Coding Digital Metasurfaces

To address the challenges posed by the current land-based sea scene simulation techniques, which struggle to balance dynamic simulations, coupling effects, large areas, and construction costs, we present a novel single-station simulation method for studying the electromagnetic responses of highly dynamic sea surfaces based on space-time-coding digital metasurfaces, in which a new binary particle swarm optimization (BPSO) algorithm is used to optimize coding sequence, making the technique have higher optimization efficiency. We verify the effectiveness of the proposed approach by designing the coding sequence corresponding to Weibull and Rayleigh distributions of sea clutters. The simulation results indicate that our method can effectively and accurately imitate the backscatter coefficient distributions of sea clutters under excitations of monochromatic waves.
