Rayleigh-Plesset Model based Nonlinear Simulation of Radial Modulation Imaging

Radial modulation imaging (RMI) introduces an additional low-frequency (LF) signal to excite ultrasonic microbubble into different vibration modes, thereby enhancing the echo signal intensity, which has become one of the important methods to further improve the imaging quality of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS), especially for very low-velocity microbubble. However, limited by the combination of accurate calculation for microbubble echo and tissue ultrasound simulation, there is currently a lack of an effective RMI simulation method. This paper proposes a new strategy based on Rayleigh-Plesset model, which accurately calculates the microbubble echo through RP equation and combines the k-space pseudospectral method to realize the plane-wave imaging part of RMI. The method can obtain B-mode simulation results in various situations and adjust various simulation parameters, which solves the deficiency of existing method and can be helpful for the research of RMI.
