Improving Imaging Performance of Modified Born Approximation Method Based on Dominant Subdomain

Inverse scattering problems face severe challenges from intrinsic ill-posedness and nonlinearity, which degrade the imaging performance for strong scatterers. In this paper, a qualitative method based on the dominant subdomain is firstly applied to determine the domain of scatters (DOS). Subsequently, the modified Born approximation (MBA) performs inversion imaging in DOS instead of the domain of interest (DOI), which effectively improves the quality of imaging by reducing the number of unknowns. Furthermore, the introduction of the dominant subdomain solution into the MBA method does not require time consuming optimization, which is quite efficient. Finally, typical numerical results are presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
