Polarized neutron transmission spectroscopy on an ultrafine grained steel

Neutron transmission spectroscopy has attracted much attention as a promising operando characterization method for multi-phase composite materials with various crystallographic textures. For further advances, we have studied contributions from magnetic scatterings for polarized neutrons using an ultra-fine grained high carbon steel as an example. The results suggest that the information derived from the magnetic scatterings is helpful to evaluation of the complicated fine structure in magnetic and structural materials.
