A Channel Decoupling Method for Digital Phased Array Beamforming Based on Chaotic Genetic Algorithm

In this paper, a channel decoupling method based on chaotic genetic algorithm is proposed for accurate digital phased array beamforming. With the increase of working frequency and decrease in element spacing, the channel coupling in phased array has more severe influence on array radiation pattern. Making use of a-prior measured radiation patterns, the optimal channel coupling compensation matrix is estimated with the genetic algorithm, which greatly reduces the error between decoupled radiation pattern and ideal radiation pattern. The simulation results show that the maximum beam pointing deviation is reduced from 1.8° to 0.5° and the sidelobe level is reduced by 8 dB when the channel decoupling method is applied.
