3D Printed Terahertz Lens Antenna Fed by Effective-Medium-Clad Dielectric Waveguide

We propose a 3D printed lens antenna fed by a substrateless all-silicon effective-medium-clad dielectric waveguide. The proposed antenna operates over 220 to 400 GHz while supporting two orthogonal modes with in-plane and out-of-plane polarizations. Simulated results show that this endfire antenna has reflection coefficients below -10 dB for both polarizations with a realized gain ranging from 30 to 33 dBi for the in-plane polarization and 27 to 33 dBi for the out-of-plane polarization across the whole operation bandwidth. We can foreseen that such a broadband high-gain antenna with structural simplicity and low cost can find wide applications in beyond-5G communications.
