Multi-Physics Simulation of a Patch Antenna

In order to simulate the influence of thermal deformation effect on the electromagnetic radiation performance of patch antenna, an electromagnetic-thermal-mechanical co-simulation method was proposed based on discontinuous Galerkin time domain (DGTD) method, finite element time domain (FETD) method and finite element method (FEM). Maxwell equation is solved by DGTD method, heat conduction equation is solved by FETD method, and mechanical equation is solved by FEM method. The thermal simulation and mechanical simulation are coupled by thermal strain. Electromagnetic and thermal-mechanical simulations are coupled through structural deformation. The numerical results show that the radiation pattern will change if the thermal deformation effect of the patch antenna is taken into account.
