A Low Sidelobe Ka Band Circle-Aperture Conical Scanning Phased Array Antenna

In this paper, a low sidelobe Ka band circle-aperture conical scanning phased array antenna is proposed. This antenna array consists of 148 E-shaped patch antenna elements in circular configuration. Simulation results show the phased array antenna can achieve conical scanning of $\pm 25^{\circ}$ . The active voltage standing wave ratios (AVSWRs) are less than 2 in the range of 30.5-39.5GHz, with a relative bandwidth of about 25.7% and the sidelobe level is lower than -22dB. This proposed antenna using PCB technology has a wide range of applications in the field of millimeter wave communication, especially for radar seeker.
