A Multi-Band High Gain Liquid Antenna Base on Spoof Surface Plasmons

This paper presented a high-gain multi-band ionic liquid antenna based on a spoof surface plasmons (SPs) structure. The antenna is mainly composed of ionic liquids, an acrylic cylinder container and spoof SPs structures. The antenna is excited by a microstrip feed-line, by introducing the plasmonic structures in the ground, the multiple frequency bands have been generated. Meanwhile, two liquid dielectric resonators with spoof SPPs structures are placed on the both sides of the central cylindrical dielectric resonator (DR), the radiation beam of the antenna is further concentrated due to the strong surface waves confinement capability of spoof SPPs, and radiation performance of the antenna is further improved. The total size of the antenna is 90mm*90mm. The simulation results demonstrates that the antenna operating in five frequency bands, namely 3GHz- 3.15GHz, 3.2GHz-3.14GHz, 4.7GHz-4.9GHz, 6.1GHz-6.2GHz, and 7GHz-7.1GHz, with a maximum gain of 6.5 dBi. The proposed antenna can find many applications in the fields of wireless communication, transparent electronic devices, and Internet of Things (IoT).
