Investigation on 650 GHz Sheet-Beam Staggered Double-Vane Traveling Wave Tube

A 650 GHz staggered double-vane traveling wave tube (TWT) is designed in this paper. The high frequency, transmission characteristics of slow wave structures (SWS) at two different voltages are simulated and analyzed. The particle-in-cell (PIC) simulation is also calculated and the results indicate that the tube can produce 5.5 W output power at 650 GHz under the condition of 18.1 kV operating voltage, 15 mA current and 1 mW input power. The corresponding gain is more than 37 dB without an attenuator.
