Flexible Control Strategy of Micro Gas Turbine Generation System under Multiple Operation Modes

Micro gas turbine (MGT) generation system is one of the important components of comprehensive energy systems. MGT generation system has multiple operation modes including start-up, grid-connected and islanded operation mode. Different control strategies are used for each operation mode, and switching control strategy is required when the operation mode changes. Based on control flexibility of the bidirectional converter, the flexible control strategy for MGT generation system is proposed in this paper. The control signal of the flexible control strategy is the weighted combination of the control signal of grid-connected operation mode and that of islanded operation mode. The DC voltage is dominant in the control signal of the flexible control strategy in the case of grid-connected operation mode, while both the grid-side AC voltage and DC voltage are dominant in the case of islanded operation mode. Thus, the flexible control strategy can be adapted to multiple operation modes automatically. The proposed flexible control strategy of MGT generation system is verified by simulation on the Matlab/Simulink platform.
