Chopper Controlled Impedance Conditioner Based on Direct AC/AC Conversion for Optimizing the Distribution Feeders Performance

摘要
This paper is based on a multi-functional modular chopper controlled impedance (CCI) to realize power flow management of transmission lines to improve transmission capacity and power quality of distribution network. The compensator is formed by cascading multiple direct AC/AC chopper controlled impedance sub-modules, which can realize the continuous change of equivalent reactance from inductive to capacitive. CCI does not require electrolytic capacitors, is small in size, and can realize single-stage conversion of power without intermediate links. Due to the compensator's modular design, it can be manufactured at low cost using traditional industrial-grade components, which also eases system maintenance. In addition, by rationally designing the internal parameters of the CCI, not only can the transmission capacity be improved, but also the function of line fault current limiting can be achieved. This paper completes the detailed theoretical analysis, and uses Matlab/Simulink simulation software to complete the simulation verification.
