Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) plays a crucial part in remote sensing applications. Back Projection (BP) algorithm is a representative SAR imaging algorithm. However, motion errors often worsen the imaging performance of BP. In this paper, we present four motion compensation methods of BP based on GPS (Global Positioning System) and IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) data. First, we introduce the coordinate system involved in the four methods and the general formula of coordinate system rotation. Then the origin and steps of the four methods are described in detail and the relevant formulas are given. Finally, the actual airborne SAR data is used to verify the effectiveness of these methods.
