Design of A Terahertz Broadband Phased Array Antenna Based on Effective-Medium

This paper proposes a design and simulation of a terahertz broadband phased array antenna using effective-medium (EM). The all-silicon waveguide based on EM is employed to feed the silicon rod antenna array, resulting in a significant reduction in the terahertz wave loss in the transmission line and realize the broadband impedance matching with the antenna array. The simulation results show that the antenna array realizes ± 35° beam scanning in the frequency range of 110 - 140 GHz, while maintaining a gain that varies from 12 - 15 dBi in the scanning range.
