Compact Eighth-Mode Substrate Integrated Waveguide Filtering Antenna with Cross C-Slots

A compact eighth-mode substrate integrated waveguide (EMSIW) filtering antenna with cross C-slots is designed and proposed in this paper. The EMSIW structure miniaturizes the antenna’ s size. By etching Π-slots in the middle of the top metal layer, which can improve the coupling strength between the two cavities,the antenna can achieve excellent filtering characteristic requirement. Additionally, the original symmetrical cross C-slots are etched in the middle of the top metal layer too, which can be used to adjust the resonant frequency easily. The simulated return loss of this filtering antenna is -29.13dB and the maximum gain of 2.65 dB in the frequency band (7.2GHz-7.3GHz) is realized.
