A Broadband Microwave Limiter Based on T-type Microstrip Network

As an important component of the microwave control circuit, the limiter plays an important role in protecting the power-sensitive devices in the receiving system. To meet the protection requirements of a high-power microwave in a wide band, a miniaturized broadband microwave limiter based on a PIN diode is designed and taped out to verify. The limiter adopts a three-level anti-parallel structure and uses a T-shaped network composed of microstrip line conductors to replace the λ/4 transmission line, the operating frequency band is expanded from 8-12GHz to 10-19GHz, and the chip area is only 1.6mm×0.7mm. The test results show that in the 10-19GHz band, the small signal insertion loss is less than - 0.8dB, the bearable power is up to 50dBm, the limiting level is less than 16dBm, and the input and output voltage standing wave ratio is less than 1.3. The limiter chip has a wide frequency band, high power resistance, a small area, and broad application prospects.
