Axial Loading of Radial Drive Bearings with Short Cylindrical Rollers

Radial bearings with short cylindrical rollers have been developed abroad for gearboxes and railroad axle boxes. These bearings are subject to both radial and axial loads. Russian and non-Russian methods of taking the axial load into account in bearing design are analyzed. In the design of drive bearing systems, the SKF method is selected for taking account of the axial load on bearings with short cylindrical rollers. Sample calculations are presented.
