摘要
Background In women presenting with gynaecological symptoms, the diagnosis of hematopoietic cancer is a rare entity. Such rare cancers often face diagnostic delays, thus impacting prognosis. Here we present an unusual ovarian myeloid sarcoma secondary to acute myeloid leukaemia. Case report A 44-year-old, P1L1 lady presented with complaints of heavy menstrual bleeding since 3 months. On clinical examination she had a hard fixed abdominopelvic mass and another globular smooth pinkish mass replacing the posterior lip of the cervix. Radiology confirmed high vascularity and atypical features. The presence of blast cells on peripheral smear raised the suspicion of leukaemia, which was confirmed with bone marrow analysis and patient was started on chemotherapy. Conclusion Myeloid sarcoma of the female genital tract is unusual and, consequently, can be misdiagnosed. It is essential to be aware of this tumour entity, as chemotherapy appropriate for AML must be started timely to improve the prognosis.
