On Cyber-resilient Microgrid: A Variable Trust Protocol Based Control Strategy

With the development of microgrids, the cyber layer and the physical layer are deeply coupled, and the risk of cyber-attack is becoming increasingly serious. Among the threating cyber-attack modes, false data injection attack (FDIA) has been one of the most concerns of research in recent years. Inspired by zero-trust security architecture, a variable trust protocol (VTP) control strategy is proposed in this work, which is deployed at the control center and adopts multidimensional identity authentication for objects and input data to realize precise verification on identity attribute according to each dimension. The information of different identity attributes is fused effectively by leveraging the Dempster-Shafer (D-S) evidence theory. The fine-grained quantization mechanism is utilized to obtain the trust score at every interval to represent the credibility of the objects and the correspond input data. A practical microgrid-based simulation is used to prove that the injected false data can be effectively discriminated by the score. With the proposed control strategy, the robustness and operation security of the microgrid is enhanced remarkably.
