摘要
In the United States of America (USA), there are numbers of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) facilities, some of which are coming to end-of-life and require decommissioning. Although the BESS are expected to be more in the future, they still significantly lack the need for the decommissioning framework. It is well understood that a well-thought-out decommissioning process can ensure safety, schedule, and cost during project planning; thus, it can help calculate the total cost of ownership and eliminate the owners' end-of-life uncertainties. Based on such needs, this paper proposes a decommission framework that must be addressed to decommission large and other small BESS facilities safely and efficiently. Practical and specific guidance on decommissioning activities is presented to assist BESS owners' planning cycle, thus optimizing resources. The technical requirements and vendor selection criteria are elaborated, and an actual decommission use case performed by Southern California Edison (SCE).
