Secondary Cleft Rhinoplasty

Secondary (definitive) cleft rhinoplasty is considered one of the most challenging procedures to perform. Its variable presentation at the time of definitive rhinoplasty results from multiple factors including earlier surgeries, variable severity of baseline deformity, and growth-related distortions. Although different approaches have been described in the literature, they all share the common goal of restoring nasal symmetry and function. Because there is no standard approach, there is a lack of comparative studies in the secondary cleft rhinoplasty literature. National practice trends also vary. Nevertheless, patients report high satisfaction after definitive rhinoplasty and PROMs continue to highlight the patient experience.
