Personality analysis for handwritten documents: a case study with Bangla characters

Handwriting analysis may be utilised as a rational strategy for distinguishing, assessing, and understanding an individual’s identity. Analysis of various handwriting traits of a person can be used to categorise the personality of that person which is traditionally conducted by the expert graphologist. In current times, due to the advancement of modern computer vision techniques similar tasks can be automated with the aid of computers. Unlike English, very few works on automatic personality analysis from handwriting have been reported in other scripts specially Bangla. This paper provides a glimpse of the study methodology followed so far along with the initial findings. In this paper, various morphological and structural properties of handwriting are extracted from Bangla characters using automated handcrafted feature extraction techniques to develop a computerised handwriting analysis system. The experimental results are compared with the Big Five personality traits collected from the same individuals and obtained encouraging outcomes.
