Europium decorated hierarchical TiO2 heterojunction nanostructure with enhanced UV light photocatalytic activity for degradation of toxic industrial effluent

•Eu doped TiO2 ellipsoid nano particles were achieved by simple solvothermal method.•Industry efficient wastewater treatment carried out with Congo red dye pollutants.•The novel photocatalytic degradation efficiency is 97% even after 75 min,•Eu doped TiO2 shows a stability up to four cycles of photodecomposition.
