n effective method has been developed for the synthesis of 2-amino-4-aryl-6-chloropyridine-3,5-dicarbonitriles from 3-arylcyclopropane-1,1,2,2-tetracarbonitriles by treating the starting materials with sodium hydride in anhydrous DMF, followed by HCl in isopropanol.
