•UA-assisted NADES-based procedure was developed for extraction of polyphenolic compounds.•21 sugar-based NADESs were prepared and tested.•Choline chloride:raffinose NADES showed higher extraction yields.•The method was applied for determination of polyphenolic compounds in botanical sources.
