New anionic Gemini surfactant viscoelastic fluid for clean fracturing of natural gas hydrate

•A new anionic gemini surfactant viscoelastic fluid with high viscoelasticity and excellent proppant-carrying ability is developed for natural gas hydrate extraction.•The new fluid has good activity, reducing fracture plugging and forming highly permeable fractures in the reservoir, resulting in a more stable and efficient extraction process.•The fracturing fluid prepared with the new fluid is convenient to break, with low economic cost and environmental friendliness, supporting the sustainable development of natural gas hydrate extraction technology.
