Beneficial effects of Hawthorn extract on metabolic hypertensive rats by regulating Treg/Th17 immune balance

•Hawthorn extract can reduce the blood pressure of metabolic hypertension(MH) model rats induced via an over-consumption of alcohol and a high sugar and fat diet.•Hawthorn extract can improve lipid metabolism and liver functions in rat models.•Hawthorn extract could inhibit aortic inflammatory injury and improve vascular endothelial function by regulating the Treg/Th17 immune imbalance.
