2-Aminobenzochromenes and dihydropyranchromenes represent a unique class of biologically active compounds. We concentrate on the synthesis of biologically active compounds of chromenes using an environmentally friendly, heterogeneous green Amberlite IRA 400-Cl resin catalyst. These chromene-structured compounds enable them to be used as fluorescent sensors. The selected chromenes have been used as metal ion sensors to study their photophysical characteristics. 2-Aminobenzochromenes and dihydropyranchromenes represent a unique class of biologically active compounds.
