Magneto-optical and thermo-optical properties of the Ge-Sb-As-S glass

Thermo-optical and magneto-optical properties of high-purity GexAsySbzS100-x-y-z (x = 10–13; y = 20–23; z = 4–6) glasses are studied. Transmission spectra, spectral dependence of the Verdet constant in the 632–1940 nm range, thermally induced depolarization, and thermal lens are investigated. The material parameters responsible for thermally induced depolarization and thermal lens are estimated. The high-purity Ge-As-Sb-S glasses are shown to be promising materials for creating optical elements for Faraday devices operating in high power laser radiation.
