Preparation of Bionic Anisotropic Superhydrophobic-Surface Based on Ti6Al4V Alloy

Ti6A14V alloy, as a promising metal material, is now widely used in many fields, such as aerospace, chemical and medical equipment, automotive engineering and so on. Providing better surface properties to Ti6A14V alloy has important research value. To achieve this goal, herein, the bionic super-hydrophobic surface inspired by indocalamus leaves with anisotropic wettability is fabricated on the surface of Ti6A14V alloy using nano-second laser followed by chemical modification. The protrusion, groove, and ridge like structures imitating the indocalamus leaves surface were achieved by twotime laser etching method. The surface morphology was observed by SEM, the wettability and anisotropy on the bionic super-hydrophobic surface were studied in detail. Meanwhile, we conducted a detailed analysis on the anisotropic wettability of the surface. We believe that this paper can provide theoretical significance and application expansion in improving the surface functionality of Ti6A14V alloys.
