Validation and Implementation of Key Technologies for the Application of 5G NR in LEO Satellite Communication

With the advancement of fifth-generation (5G) new radio (NR) technology, there has been a growing interest in the study of non-terrestrial networks (NTN), particularly in the context of satellite communication. The validation and implementation of low earth orbit (LEO) satellite communication within NTN has gained considerable attention. However, this field poses various challenges, including significant time delays and time-frequency synchronization issues due to Doppler shift. This paper focuses on addressing the time-frequency synchronization problem encountered in LEO satellite communication and mobile phone connectivity. It proposes two experimental approaches that utilize an ultra-wideband channel emulator. These approaches encompass a two-step random access (RA) with mapping relationship experiments involving RACH occasions (RO) and PUSCH occasions (PO), as well as dynamic scheduling implementation. The proposed schemes aim to facilitate initial access and dynamic scheduling for effective communication between satellites and mobile phones.
