Atmospheric water harvesting is a promising method to obtain freshwater. However, it remains a formidable challenge because the fog water harvesting process is easily polluted by air pollutants. In a recent study published in Nature Sustainability, Schutzius and colleagues have proposed a strategy that can efficiently treat pollution in the process of fog harvesting and obtain clean water. Once activated by light, efficient water harvesting and treatment can be achieved even on cloudy days without sunlight. This has significant implications for future freshwater resource harvesting.
