Design and Evaluation of a Dielectric Waveguide based Fingerprinting and Distribution Network for mmW-Radar Operation

This paper discusses the design and setup of dielectric waveguide based, fingerprint filters. The filters are utilized within a signal-distribution network, which allows for the simultaneous radar measurement of several cross-range directions. The necessary filters are of notch-type and were designed as ring resonator filters. Next to the theoretical derivation of the filter’s notch positions, simulations and measurement results prove the effectiveness of the proposed design. Finally, two exemplary filters are used in a signal distribution network for radar operation in W-band. Results of this radar investigation are presented and discussed in detail.
