Oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural into 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid over CuO and NiO modified natural sourced hierarchical ZSM-5

摘要
•Hierarchical ZSM-5 zeolite was successfully prepared through solvothermal method using precursors sourced from natural zeolite and kaolin.•The ZSM-5 was impregnated with Cu and Ni oxides to increase their acidity and oxidation capability and applied as catalyst in the oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) into 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA).•The hierarchical NiO/ZSM-5 gives the highest 5-HMF conversion and yield of FDCA due to the increase of medium acidity and mild oxidation capability.
