Gentrification, neighborhood socioeconomic factors and urban vegetation inequities: A study of greenspace and tree canopy increases in Montreal, Canada

•High deprivation or minority concentration tied to less vegetation in 2011.•Non-gentrified census tracts (CTs) had less vegetation than high-income CTs in 2011.•Higher deprivation/minority CTs had smaller vegetation increases (2011–2017).•Non-gentrified CTs experienced less greening than high-income CTs between 2011 and 2017.•Greenspace/Tree canopy inequity increased in Montreal between 2011 and 2017.
