Compact diode-pumped tunable single- and dual-wavelength single-frequency semiconductor disk lasers

•A simple and compact optically pumped semiconductor disk laser operating in about 1.03 μm is reported.•Single wavelength single frequency laser is achieved with maximum power of 1.79 W and wavelength tunability of about 7 nm.•Dual wavelength single frequency laser is also achieved for the first time to our knowledge.
