Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) reduces mortality and new-onset ventricular arrhythmias (VA) in appropriate patients. Clustering of VAs is known to predict overall mortality, but the temporal influence of VAs on mortality risk is not well characterized, and the effect of CRT on this relationship is unknown. We analyzed data from the RAFT study to determine the temporal association between time-varying, cumulative VAs on the hazards of all-cause mortality among heart failure (HF) patients, and the effect of CRT on this relationship.
