Identification and comparison of the local physicochemical structures of transition metal-based layered double hydroxides for high performance electrochemical oxygen evolution reactions

In situ X-ray analyses combined with density functional theory calculations reveal that the enhanced oxygen evolution reaction activity of Ni-/Fe-based layered double hydroxides is attributed to the fixed oxidation state fixation (2+/3+) for Ni and Fe ions.
