摘要
In this study we investigated the transformative effects of neutrons on micro/nanoplastics. Our study utilized advanced ultrastructural, microscopic, and rheological analyses to examine how neutrons affect the structures, aggregation stability, and elasticity of these materials. While the neutron-induced changes in various polymeric simulants of micro/nanoplastics are known, the study explored the potential remediation aspects of neutrons for the removal of micro/nanoplastics. Neutron radiation caused significant changes in Pluronic nanomicelles, PCL and PLGA. Neutron irradiation reduced hydrophobicity, viscosity, and induced solid-like behavior. The results corroborate the use of neutron irradiation as an effective tool for micro/nanoplastics treatment.
