The role of postpartum moderate maternal alcohol use on maternal systemic inflammation and child negative affectivity

Previous studies have shown that dysregulated maternal inflammation may contribute to infant negative affect and that prenatal alcohol use may be associated with suboptimal infant developmental outcomes. However, the impact of postpartum moderate maternal alcohol consumption on systemic inflammation and infant outcomes is unclear. Our objective was to examine maternal inflammatory profiles and infant outcomes for mothers who reported postpartum moderate alcohol consumption compared to those who did not report postpartum alcohol consumption.
