A quest for treatment discovery in children and adolescents with schizophrenia: investigational drugs in pipeline

Psychopharmacologic therapies in pediatric patients with schizophrenia are under development, and new molecules are being investigated by the scientific community. Although much of the evidence behind the approval of newer medications is derived from adult studies extrapolation, there is an ultimate need for novel drug discovery to target distinct neurochemical mechanisms, given the heterogeneity of this illness. The author will present publicly available information on these molecules/new medications for the learners wanting to get familiar with the drugs under development.
