Commentary: In strive to get rid of chronic venous hypertension; staged ventricular septation in double inlet ventricles

This manuscript describes our techniques for staged septation. The strategy avoids the Fontan procedure and culminates in either biventricular circulation or 1.5V circulation. The goal is to retain low inferior vena cava (IVC) pressures with normalization of oxygen saturations. Long term data are lacking, but the strategy may be an option for subgroups of patients.
