Design of Inter-Satellite Link Between Multifunction Test Sat and Tiantuo 5

By introducing inter-satellite link, Multifunction Test Sat and Tiantuo 5 can realize functions such as cooperative positioning, formation control and distributed computing. In order to reduce the construction and development costs of inter-satellite link, low-cost commercial devices such as the Long Range Radio (Lora) chip from Semtech company are used to achieve inter-satellite communication. Combined with the characteristics of relative motion between two satellites, adaptive algorithms are used to adaptively adjust the parameter configuration of the Lora chip to achieve optimal communication transmission performance. The analysis of the actual in orbit operation data of the Multifunction Test Sat and Tiantuo-5 satellite shows that the communication rate using Lora chip reaches 126.88bps. The design and development of the inter-satellite link proposed in this article is simple, small in size, low in energy consumption, and high in sensitivity; At the same time, it is possible to adaptively configure communication encoding and communication rate based on the actual operation of dual satellites, effectively improving the utilization rate of onboard energy and saving onboard energy.
