Perylene diimide with solid-state NIR luminescence for imaging of latent fingerprints (sweat pores)

We have reported a novel dibromo allyl-substituted perylene diimide (PDI 2) as a near-IR emitter with 99.53% color purity and & phi; = 0.0385. PDI 2 showed a morphology of a thick film (4-5 nm) with holes of radius 20-40 nm and a depth of 4-7 nm. PDI 2 has been used for the daylight and fluorescence imaging of latent fingerprints up to levels 1-3 on different colored porous and non-porous surfaces. PDI 2 showed near-IR emission at 683 nm, 99.53% red colour purity and a thick film morphology with holes for daylight and fluorescence imaging of fingerprints (levels 1-3).
