•A new requirement in MCGDM named group correspondence (GCO) is proposed.•GCO is measured based on the condition number of a matrix.•A condition number based GCO method is developed for MCGDM.•A feedback model is designed to accelerate the convergence of GCO.•GCO is compared with existing requirements to highlight its significance.
